Amazon is now in Hindi: Check all the new features here

In a bid to take an edge over its largest rival Flipkart and make deeper inroads in India’s growing online market, Amazon India today launched a Hindi version of its mobile website and Android app.

Launching the new site Amazon India’s Vice President Manish Tiwary said: “We believe Amazon Hindi is a critical step to address the next 100 million customers.

Amazon Hindi Features:
Hindi version will have the same features as available in English. The customers will be able to read detailed product information, find deals and discounts, manage account information, track orders and view order history in Hindi. A customer can switch to the hindi version by just changing the language from English to Hindi in the settings section.

Besides hindi, Amazon also plans to launch services in other local Indian languages and plans to extend the service to mobile platforms beyond Android. It plans to launch the desktop version soon.

First-mover advantage
India’s other e-commerce sites — Flipkart, Snapdeal or Paytm Mall — currently don’t have a local language version of their apps or websites, and the new Hindi app and website could give Amazon access to millions of new customers in small towns and villages.

Amazon plans to add over 10 crore customers in India in the coming future.

According to a 2017 report by KPMG and Google, users of Indian languages are expected to reach 536 million by 2021, while English users will be around 199 million. The report said nine out of ten new internet users between 2016 and 2021 would use local languages.
